Tinfoil Spider Sculpture

Hello everyone. I am going to walk you through how to make a spider sculpture out of only tinfoil so grab any leftover tinfoil and let's get to work. Hope you enjoy it!

Supplies

  1. Tinfoil
  2. Scissors
  3. Marker
  4. Ruler

Getting Started

First, you will want to take your square piece of tinfoil and draw a line through the center of the piece. You will then cut this piece in half. Put one of these halves to the side for later.

The Legs

Next, you will want to cut the rectangle into four different pieces. I folded it in half and cut it. I then folded those again and cut the two pieces through the center. This created a more even length for each piece. You will want to have four skinny rectangle pieces by the end of this step.

You will then want to crumble up the four rectangular pieces into straight, round lines. Put these to the side because the legs are done now. These should be relatively skinny.

The Fang

Grab the other half of the tinfoil. With this half, you will draw out a square that is approximately 1/6 to 1/8 of the total rectangle. Cut that out and then crumble it as straight as possible just like you did with the legs. Put this piece aside for later. The piece taken out should look like the image above.

The Body

You will then want to fold the remaining tinfoil about 3 to 5 times. It should look like the first image. Grab the legs (the crumbled up skinny rectangles) and center them a couple of inches from one side of the folded piece of tinfoil. Begin to fold the end with the legs closest to it towards the opposite side. You should fold it similarly to rolling up a mat. These folds should be about the same length as the four legs combined. Make sure to leave about 2 to 2 1/2 inches on the opposite side. By the time you are done with this, it should look like the second image.

Nearly Done

Center the fang in the middle of the unfolded part of the legs. Do the exact same thing that was done to the legs by rolling/folding up the opposite side. This is the head. Curl the fangs to make it look like the image above.

Finishing Up

You will then want to curl the legs in a shape similar to an S and you're done. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy this instructable. You can choose whether or not you would like to spray paint it. This is perfect for a cheap Halloween Decoration or just something you can use as a prank.
