Tinkerbell Pumpkin Carving

I saw this cute idea on Pinterest and wanted to try my hand at carving something so intricate. Granted, I've seen much more intricate work, but I'm not a great pumpkin carver.

It was surprisingly easy, especially with good tools!

Supplies:

Pumpkin

Image of Tinkerbell (printed from your computer)

Tape

Pumpkin carving tools (purchased the year previous so they were inexpensive!)

Drill with different sized bits

Candle

I did a quick Google search for a Tinkerbell image that looked the best. There are plenty available!

Print out the image and purchase a pumpkin. Clean out the pumpkin of all the innards and you are ready to begin.

Tape the image of the fairy to the pumpkin and start poking holes around the edges of the image so it will transfer to the pumpkin

Once all of Tinkerbell is poked around, remove the taped image and you should have an outline of the fairy on the pumpkin.

Start carving!

This was the most enjoyable part, as you can tell from the smile on my face!

Starting with a smaller bit on your drill, make a loose, swooping line (I included a loop, but any design is great). Then begin to fill in the trail of holes using different bits on the drill and be creative! It was nice to drill wherever and not have a pattern to follow.

This step is optional, but sure makes for a good photo! Not sure what my husband is doing to that pumpkin? Don't worry - just blowing away the inner guts of the pumpkin from the drilled holes.

It definitely allows more light to shine through if you follow this step, but I wasn't really wanting to volunteer.

Then add a candle and stand back to enjoy the fairy dust!
