Tinkercad- Spiral Stair Dice Tower
Welcome traveler,
You wish to make a dice tower in just a few easy step, but don't want to get your hands too dirty or simply strap for time? Or you just want to try a new method at making your own dice tower?
Well, you have found the right place.
All that is required is two items:
Supplies
- Computer
- 3D Printer
- Ruler
Step 1 : Measure Out the Biggest Dice + Tinkercad Setup
Measure out the out the size of the biggest dice you are going to use. So you would know that the dice would fit into the tower.
Optional :
You can import a reference dice from any 3D model sites
Step 2 : the Design of the Tower Spiral Stairs Prt 1
Start off by adding in a cylinder
Height : 10
Length/Width : 20
Then add in a rectangle
Length : longer then the length of the dice
Width : 18
Height : 2
Rotate the rectangle 10 degrees
Attach the rectangle to the cylinder while making sure that both the rectangle and cylinder are flush on the same plane.
Step 3 : Spiral Stair Prt 2
Now onto the easy part.
Group up the stair pieces, then "CTRL + D " to duplicate the piece
Move the duplicated stair piece upwards, but make sure it is still touching the previous piece. When you rotate around you won't see any gaps between the two stairs
Rotate the top stairs until it is the same as the picture.
Now you can select the rotated piece and "Ctrl + D" all the way up until you are satisfied with the height
"Ctrl + D" will duplicate your previous movement on the object so make sure not to click away
Then group up all you stairs as one
Step 4 : Reference of Outside Tower
Grab a cylinder and set it to a hole
Scale it to cover up the whole spiral stairs
Make sure that the cylinder is centered to the spiral stairs.
Step 5 : Making the Brick of the Tower
Hide the spiral stair by selecting it and click on the lightbulb.
You will now be using the cylinder made in the previous step as a reference
Grab in a rectangle and scale it to your liking then add in bevels with the radius slider
Place it in a circular shape around the cylinder to form the base
Step 6 : Up the Tower Goes
Select the base that was made in the previous step
"Ctrl + D" move up and leave no gap
Rotate a bit
Then repeat until you reach the top of the cylinder
Step 7 : Open the Doorway
Unhide the stairs
You can try and cut a door way with the rectangular hole ( but it was not working for me so onto the next step)
For me I made a door the old fashion way by removing the blocks until it looks big enough for the dice to fit through
Optional :
you can make a dice or grab it off any 3D model website
Step 8 : Decoration
In this step it is optional
-You can add in a base with a rectangle and some dice guards
-A top lid by making a pizza shape with a flat cylinder with the size of the reference cylinder and having a hole with
-Remove some bricks to make it look much more older or damaged
Once all done group up the whole model, may take some time because it is quite big
Final Step: Look Through
Make sure that all the bricks are touching each other
Have the stairs touch the the walls ( if the walls are much bigger then the stairs, scale down until the stairs are touching the walls)
If there are gaps is the model that was not purposely made, it may cause problems because it won't hold together
Other then that print it out and have fun traveler.
