Touchscreen Glove Phone Case
Have you ever been afraid of dropping your phone while skiing or snowboarding, or even on the chairlift? Is it annoying to have to take your gloves off to use your phone. There are many great apps to use while skiing or riding. Now you have easy access to information such as: your speed, the time, the elevation, as well as trail maps. A quick glance at the back of your hand, now you know where you are.
Materials
What do you need to create this?
-A pair of ski gloves
-Plastic zipper case that can fit your phone (you can cut it)
-Scissors
-Needle
-Fishing line
-Conductive thread
Cutting the Case
I first cut the case so that it could fit my phone in it. I also made sure that it would fit onto the back of the glove. Make sure you cut it so that the zipper could be used to insert and remove your phone.
Attaching the Case
I used pins to temporarily secure the case to the glove. Using strong fishing line, I sewed it onto the glove, making sure not to sew the glove together. I chose fishing line because it it stronger than thread and makes it look neater, since it is practically invisible. Make sure that you secure it well; the point of this is to make sure you do not lose your phone. When sewing sides with a zipper, make sure to only attach the side touching the glove, to prevent sewing the case closed.
Inserting Conductive Thread
In order to be able to use your touchscreen, a steel thread must be sewn into whichever finger(s) you would like to use it with. Make sure that the thread is both on the inside and outside of the finger. If it is not able to touch both your finger as well as the screen, it is completely useless. Be careful to not sew the glove finger shut.
Have Fun!
Now that you have your own glove phone case, using your phone while skiing and snowboarding will be incredibly easier and more efficient. Track your speed, race your friends, and always have a sense of directions by knowing the trails like the back of your hand.
