Tree Stump Fairy House Made With Paper Clay
Hi, I thought it would be fitting for my first instructable to be the first project I made with paper clay.
Supplies:
- Jar
- Prescription Medicine bottle
- Aluminum foil
- Homemade paper clay
- Hot glue gun
- Hot glue sticks
- Acrylic paint
- Clay sculpture tools
Creating a Base
I used hot glue to attach the pill bottle and foil to the jar, creating a stump shaped base.
Making Clay
Paper clay Supplies:
- 40 grams shredded paper
- 100 grams flour
- 100 grams cornstarch
- 150 grams of white school glue
- 250 grams joint compound
- 40 grams baby oil or olive oil
Soak the shredded paper in hot water and let sit over night in the water. The next day squeeze out and discard the water. Add glue, oil and joint compound and mix thoroughly with a mixer that you don’t use for food. Mix in flour and corn starch. Can add water or more flour depending on what is needed to get a soft clay consistency.
Applying Clay
I spread clay over the jar in small sections and etched in detail with clay tools before moving on to the next section. When I was finished applying the clay and putting in the details, I left it to dry for a couple of days.
Paint
I used acrylic paint.
