Trick Your Friends With These Brownies
You sink your teeth into sweet, chewy warmness. You inhale the aroma of rich, dark chocolate... with a hint of chilli? Without a moment to spare, you dash to the fridge and chug five glasses of ice-cold milk. Phew!
For those who think April Fool's should be a year-round holiday, this is for you! Have fun gifting your friends with these SECRETLY SUPER SPICY brownies hidden in an innocent, delicious-looking guise.
Supplies
Makes 2 brownies in standard muffin tins or 6 brownies in mini muffin tins. You wouldn't want to make too many or they would go to waste! ;)
Ingredients:
- 2 tbs vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbs plain low-fat yogurt
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbs cocoa powder
- 2 tbs all purpose flour
- 2 tsp finely ground chilli powder (or more)
- a pinch of salt
- a very small pinch of baking soda
For the icing (optional):
- 1 tbs icing sugar
- 1/8 tsp milk
Preheat oven to 350°F or 180°C and grease muffin tin of choice (standard or mini). Gather all ingredients.
Combine vegetable oil, sugar, yogurt, and vanilla. In a separate bowl, stir together the cocoa powder, flour, chilli powder, baking soda, and salt. Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, until the batter is smooth.
Spoon the batter into the muffin tins and bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, mix the icing sugar and milk together. When the brownies are done, let them cool for a while before drizzling with icing.
Give them to a friend, a family member (who didn't see you making them), a neighbour, or whomever and have fun watching their reaction!
