Turn Cobwebs to Mushroom Stems (and More)
With the discovery that mushroom stems, a renewable resource, are the same colour on maps as cobwebs, a pain in the butt resource, Mapartists can use this guide to learn how to switch out their cobwebs or any other type of block for something else in their schematics.
Supplies
-Litematica Tool Item (Default Stick)
-The block you want to use
-A schematic
Load Your Schematic
First thing's first, load your schematic that you need to make changes on into the game. Find one of the blocks you want to replace with something else.
Get Your Supplies
You'll need to get one of the Litematica tool items for this. The default tool item is a Stick. You'll also need one block of the type that you want to have in the schematic instead of another. For example, you will need one mushroom stem block if you want to replace cobwebs with mushroom stems.
Get Into the Right Mode
When you're holding your tool item, you should see text in the bottom left corner. One of the text lines should tell you what mode you are in.
Head to your Litematica Menu, or the M Menu. From there, click the button in the bottom left until you get to "Rebuild Schematic" mode.
Setting a Hotkey
Once you are in Schematic Rebuild Mode, go back to your M Menu, then head into Configuration Menu (top right). Once in Configuration Menu, go to Hotkeys (near the top right). From there, scroll until you find a button that is called "schematicRebuildReplaceAll." Set a hotkey for it, something that you will not frequently press. If you have a number pad on your keyboard, it is best to set it to one of the number pad keys. Backslash is another good option.
Getting Ready to Replace
Once you have your hotkey setup, you're in Rebuild Schematic mode, and you have your supplies, put the block into your hand and target your crosshair onto the block you want to switch. For example, hold the mushroom stem block and look directly at the cobweb block in the schematic. Hold down your selected hotkey. If all is done correctly, you should see an orange frame surround the cobweb or other block of your choice in the schematic. You can press the hotkey without fear of messing anything up. Make sure you target your block carefully though!
Replace Block
Hold down your hotkey, MAKE SURE you have your block in hand, and then right click. At this point, all of the blocks in the schematic that are the type you clicked on should change to the block in your hand.
Save Your Newly Updated Schematic
Once you have all of the blocks replaced in the schematic, you need to save the new version. Go to your M Menu and head to Loaded Schematics. From there, there is a button labeled Save to File. Click on it and go ahead and hit Save Schematic in the upper right.
Load and Go!
It is very important to check and make sure your new file saved properly! Unload your first schematic and try loading your new one. It should have the same name as the original but with (Converted structure) added to the name. MAKE SURE your schematic loads properly and looks good before you start work! Always check world height, chunk borders, and remember to not fill in that noobline.
Last Step
When you're sure everything is good to go, go back to the M Menu. In the bottom left, toggle back to the mode titled "Schematic Placement." You're all good to go to make your mapart a reality!
