Modification of a Perfectly Good Fire Brick
i used a full brick.
i guess they have halve bricks available. your choice.
i used a concrete saw from work to make the cuts in the brick make sure the cuts are large enough for what you have in mind...
WARNING THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT. YOU CAN SHORT IT OUT. WITH COOKING DEVICES LIKE POTS AND PANS... ANYTHING METALLIC.
with that said i cut my grooves deep and the wire never contacted anything while pressed safely inside

Wire Wrap
i wrapped the wire of an old tent stake... the metal kind... but depending on how you want this set up you can decide... make your wraps good and tight... you can stretch it out later
Assembly
i took my perfectly measured and ohm tested resistance wire coil and press fitted it into the grooves of the brick trying to be as careful as possible to ensure even coil spacing and deep seating.
i did the math and it drew 10 amps continuously so i just wired a high temp wire to it and plugged it in.
too much or two less wire can result in an overloaded circuit.
be sure you use a nut and bolt at your splice points... it will melt copper wire and refuse to work

Enjoy
ive used this in my bbq to burn wood in a oxygen free environment to get a really good flavor
also will melt aluminum... don't just set a pop can on it to see what it will do...
i use a furnace made like this to melt aluminum for casting... and as a kiln...
just do your math right to avoid expensive power supplies.
