Upcycled Broken Jewelry Sculpture
☆ Don't throw away broken jewelry, make a work of art with it! This instructable will show you how. You can do it!☆
( use all safety gear required, and work in a well ventilated are when using super glue. Refer to safety instructions and warnings on super glue and adhere to them).
Supplies
• Already broken jewelry pieces
• Super glue gel ( I used Gorilla super glue gel formula, the gel formula doesn't drip off of the piece you're gluing).
• Jewelry pliers ( for breaking down some of the already broken jewelry down even further if wanted for your unique jewelry sculpture).
• ANSI safety glasses ( used when breaking jewelry pieces with jewelry pliers).
• Leather gloves or other safety gloves (used when breaking jewelry pieces with jewelry pliers).
• Tweezers of any kind ( you may or may not need or want to use tweezers when placing the pieces of broken jewelry with super glue on them inside the shadow box. The tweezers can be used so you don't get super glue on your hands).
• Shadow box of any kind or size you want. You can find a variety of shadow boxes online. Here are a couple of web links of the shadow boxes I have used:
And
When breaking down jewelry, hold a piece of jewelry with the pliers in one hand to hold the jewelry steady and with pliers hold on to the jewelry and move the pliers back and forth until the piece breaks off. When opening a jewelry links (for example on a lone earing) hold a link with pliers in one hand on one side of the link that you intend on removing withe the end of the link facing up where the metal meets, at the point of separation and with other pliers in your other hand place on the other side of the separation point of the link. Hold the link steady with one of the pliers while you move your other hand and pliers away from you to open the link at the separation point.
Somtimes I have accidentally glued pieces somewhere in the shadow box that was not in the intended position. In that case, I just try to make it work as I glue by adding more pieces until I am satisfied with the results.
