Upcycled TV Stand

This weekend's project was a TV stand, which we have been missing since we moved in almost two months ago. We found this one on Craigslist and brought it all the way home from Williamsburg. The wood was ugly and the glass panes on the sliding doors were broken and outdated, but I had a vision for this beauty. With a bit of sanding and painting, it now looks modern and fits in perfect with our living room decor. Keep reading to find out how we completed our latest upcycle project.

First, remove the glass panes from the doors and clean the piece of furniture with a damp rag.

To replace the glass panes, we purchased this decorative metal grate at Lowes to add some flare. Place the glass on the grate and trace the outline in order to get the correct size. Then cut out each piece.

Use a power sander to remove the finish from the TV stand. You can sand the piece of furniture by hand if you want, but it will take much longer. After you sand it, clean the piece of furniture with a damp rag to remove the excess dirt and dust.

Next, prime the furniture with a while primer to prepare it for paint.

After the primer dries, apply your paint! We used three coats to cover the TV stand evenly.

Once your many of coats of paint have dried, attach the decorative metal grates and install any hardware.
