Vanilla Crack
I found this recipe in the mystery novel, Apple Turnover Murder by Joanne Fluke. All I know is when I saw this recipe; I scribbled it down and hung onto it until I finally got a chance to make it. As far as I am concerned, anything sweet and salty is wonderful, and the toffee, YUM! This is the original name from the book. When I tell people what it is called, I smirk. So here is Vanilla Crack, (smirk).
Ingredients:
¼ lb. soda crackers
2 cups (1 lb.) salted butter
1 cup sugar
½ nuts (I didn’t have any so I left them out)
2 tsp. vanilla
Supplies:
10x15 inch jelly roll pan
Heavy sauce pan
Non Stick spray
Aluminum foil
Wooden spoon
1 cup dry measuring cup (not shown)
Teaspoon measuring spoon (not shown)

Pre heat oven to 350°
Line the jelly roll pan with foil.
Spray the foil with nonstick spray.
Cover the pan with soda crackers, salt side up. Set aside.
Combine the butter, sugar and vanilla in the sauce pan.
Bring to a full boil, over medium heat.
Remove from the heat and pour it as evenly as possible over the waiting crackers.
Here is where you sprinkle on the nuts if you have them.

Place the pan in the oven and bake for 10 minutes.
Remove from the oven and let cool completely.
Remove the foil.
Break into pieces and serve. This is a great dessert for a party, picnic, or anything. Enjoy.
