Watercolor Techniques
For this activity, you will practice using 6 different watercolor techniques.
Set Your Materials
Yes, I know the picture is upside down! You will need:
- Watercolor brush
- A cup of water
- Paper towel (for drying your brush)
- Watercolor paint!
Set Up Your Paper
Take a piece of 9"x 12" heavyweight paper from the shelf and divide it into 6 sections with masking tape. Stick each piece of tape on your clothes a few times before attaching it to the paper. This will make it easier to peel off the paper when you are done.
Label Your Spaces
Label each section with a Sharpie with the 6 techniques listed below. Put your name somewhere on the front, as well. Label on the paper, not on the tape.
- Dry Brush
- Salt
- Blot
- Wet on Wet
- Crayon Resist
- Wash

Tidy Up
