Waterproof Case for X10 Palmpad or Other Gadgets
This is how I waterproof my X10 palmpads. This works great for the pool, hot tub, shower etc.
You're probably wondering why I want one of these in the shower. There is a lot of stuff you can control while in the shower. Music volume, track, have your house read you the news headlines etc. (I do all of this with Homeseer)
You could easily use this method to make a waterproof or sand / dirt proof bag for any occasion. It's inexpensive enough you can make a bunch.
It also floats!

Cut Plastic Down to Size.
This plastic is the kind you would usually use to cover a table. I purchased it at Walmart, it's very inexpensive. They make it in a couple different thicknesses, I think the thinner stuff works just fine.
I used 8" x 8" squares to start for this bag, you could get away with 8"x7" for the X10 palmpad, but it makes the last part a little harder.
You can adjust the size depending on what gadget you are trying to seal up.

Seal the Edges.
Fold this sheet in half, and seal the edges using a Foodsaver, us the manual function since you won't be using the vacuum part of the Foodsaver.
In order to seal the plastic properly, I use the manual function 3 times, and then I flip the plastic over and seal it 3 more times, on the other side for a total of 6 times. Press firmly down on the Foodsaver while sealing.
You might be able to get away with 1 or two on each side, but I'm in no hurry, and 3 has seems to be very strong for me.

Seal One End.
Again press down firmly on the Foodsaver, seal it 3 times in manual mode, then flip it over and seal the other side 3 times.
Last Minute Tweaking of Your Gadget.
Don't forget to set the house code, install fresh batteries and test the palmpad. You won't be able to do any of this without destroying the bag after the next step.
Insert Palmpad and Seal It Up.
Insert the palmpad or gadget, and seal it up.
Again, 3 times each side, don't forget to press firmly on the foodsaver as can be seen here with my thumb.

Trim Up the Edges and You're Done!
I cut the edges to be rounded a little bit, and trim off the excess plastic.
You're done!
