Hi, in this instructable I will show you how to make a wax fire starter/ campstove/ anything you need a long lasting fire for.

things you will need:

bar of wax (i found some at michaels for 5.00$)

metal container for the fire starter when it's lit (optional)

container for wax (i found that a tuna can or cat food container works well)

a pair of metal tongs (to take the container off of the stove/fire)

and scrap paper/ cardboard/ thin wood (anything stiff and burnable will work as a wick)

Please be careful because this project deals with fire, and it is very easy to get burned

Melt the Wax

Melt the wax inside the container you plan to use, be careful not to let the wax boil or let the fire touch the wax, you can melt the wax on a stove top or a small fire like i did

Once the Wax Is Melted

DSCN2856.JPG

Once the wax is melted place the cardboard/ paper/ thin wood inside the melted wax and let it dry

Light It Up

Wax Fire Starter

Once the wax has dried, do a pre-burn to make the wick easier to light and it will also get rid of any unwanted pieces of paper that did not soak up any wax

If you make this project please post a picture and show others how you made it, and feel free to expand on this idea I would love to see your ideas, and we can learn from each other and always be safe.
