This weather monitor is used for measuring rainwater and telling its temperatures. It can measure up to 8 inches of rain water.

Supplies

1 half-gallon Mason jar, 1 liquid thermometer, 1 large tongue depressor, glue gun, scissors, ruler, marking pen, 12” ruler,

Making the Rain Water Measuring Stick

Cut both round ends off of the tongue depressor and make them flat. Place the tongue depressor beside a 12” ruler. Mark every half inch on the tongue depressor up to 8”. Number every inch mark on the tongue depressor from the 1” mark to the 8” mark. Using the glue gun, glue the tongue depressor to the outside of the jar with the inch marks showing and with the 8” mark at the top.

Adding the Thermometer to the Moniter

Using the glue gun, put a spot of glue on each of the four corners of the thermometer. Now put the bottom of the thermometer inside of the jar with the temperature gauge facing out. Press the glued spots (top and bottom) into the side of the jar.
