I needed an O-ring for sealing a box.

But could not find the right gasket size.

I had the idea of using the filament NinjaFlex.

Is is a flexible plastic filament as silicon.

It can weld.

But how do the O-ring ?

I looked for a welding technique for weeks.

I then modified a heating clamp and developed a plate that lock the plastic filaments.

It's very simple to weld two plastic filaments.

I also got to weld filaments PLA, ABS, PVA, HIPS, ... and polyethylen braid & strip

I put my invention on my website : www.i3dinno.com

The EasyWelder clamp is now on kickstarter at : http://kickstarter.com/projects/i3d-inno/easywelder-filament-welding-tool-for-3d-printing

Prepare Plastic Filament

Clean plastic filaments with aceton.

The filament must be very dry, otherwise it will not weld well. Bubbles will appear and weaken the weld. It is therefore necessary to pass the filament in a dehydrator.

Put the filaments in the Holding Plate

Weld the Plastic Filaments

Put the anti-adhesive paper on the filaments so they do no stick on the clamp.

Weld the filaments.

Wait cooling.

Remove the paper.

Scrape the Filament

Remove plastic around the filament too.

Use a craft knife.

Check the Filament

Check that the diameter is good.

Check it does not break when you bend it.
