Wire Crochet Bracelets
I wanted to try wire crocheting. Honestly it's not that easy.
In this instructable I want to show you how to crochet two bracelets using wire.
P.S. I'm tired of fighting with sites that steal my instructables regardless of the license (which is indicated in the upper left corner). Sorry but I decided to add attribution to my photos. I know it looks a little annoying, but it annoys me even more to see my works under someone else's authorship or for sale.
Gathering the Necessary Materials and Tools
soft wire diameter 0.5 mm,
soft wire diameter 0.1 mm (I used copper wire from transformers),
crochet hook 1.5 mm,
crochet hook 1.1 mm,
wire cutters,
a needle,
magnifying glasses / headband magnifier (optional).
Making the Main Part of the Bracelet
The main part of the bracelet will be made as a crocheted chain of thick wire (0.5 mm). To crochet it you need to know how to make a chain stitch. Learn how to make it here: https://www.instructables.com/id/Beginning-crochet...
Because this bracelet will be circular in shape like bangles, take your measurements:
hold your hand as if you were putting on a bangle (bring all of your fingers together) and measure around the hand at the widest point with a tape measure or a strip of paper, pulling it against your skin.
Crochet a chain of the length you need using thick wire (0.5 mm) and hook 1.5 mm.
Crochet using wire instead of yarn has its own features. To get even round loops, stick your hook into each already crocheted loop so that the loop takes a round shape of shaft (see photo).
The total number of loops (together with the connecting loop) should be divided by 3 (I got 75 loops for a length of 20 cm).
Connect ends of crocheted chain to get circular shape (see photos).
Adding the Decorative Part
The decorative part will be crocheted of think wire (0.1 mm) and hook 1.1 mm.
To crochet the decorative part you will need to know how to make: chain (ch), single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), slip stitch (sl st), finish off crochet (see link in previous step).
Crochet using thin wire (0.1 mm) and hook 1.1 mm.
Work in rounds, do not turn.
1st Round (RND): 1 ch, 2 sc in every loop of chain, at the end 1 sl st. Then pick out the loops using the needle (discern the loops) (see photo).
2nd RND: 1 ch, 1 sc in every loop, at the end 1 sl st. Then straighten every 3rd loop with the needle (see photo).
3rd RND: 1 ch, *1 sc, skip 2 loops 1 dc, 3 ch, 7 dc on previous dc, skip 2 loops, repeat from * (see photo).
Finish off crochet.
Making the Second Bracelet
Start again from the main part - crochet the chain like in step 2.
These bracelets look already nice together (see photo).
Adding the Decorative Part
This decorative part includes crocheted hemispheres.
To crochet this decorative part you will need to know how to make: magic ring (magic circle) (mr), single crochet (sc), increase (inc) (2 sc in 1 stitch), finish off crochet.
Crochet using thin wire (0.1 mm) and hook 1.1 mm.
Work in rounds, do not turn. If needed, use a stitch marker for the first stitch of each round (or mark the thread).
After each crocheted round, pick out the loops using the needle.
Pattern of the hemisphere:
1st RND: 6 sc into mr.
2nd RND: inc in every loop. (In total you will get 12 stitches in this round)
3rd RND: * inc, 1 sc. Repeat from *. (18)
4th RND: * inc, 1 sc. Repeat from *. (27)
5th RND: * inc, 4 sc, inc, 5 sc. Repeat from * 1 time. inc, 4 sc. (32)
6th RND: * inc, 7 sc. Repeat from *. (36)
7th RND: sc. (36)
Finish off crochet.
Crochet several hemispheres (I made two). Then crochet not full hemisphere (with 4 rounds) and put it in the middle of the full hemisphere (you can make several such double hemispheres).
Using wire, attach hemispheres to the main part of this bracelet. Hide ends of the wires.
Bend the hemispheres slightly. Now they look like unusual flowers.
Enjoying the Work Done
I would recommend you to put a protective coating on the bracelets from copper wire (Renaissance wax or Johnsons paste wax).
