I always wonder when I see hand-carved Indian traditional wooden toys or tabletops in which animal is placed inside grid animal.

Base on this concept I made this toy which is self-balance as well. I use fusion 360 to design a toy and use flashforge finder 3D printer to print.

Supplies

1. Computer with internet connection

2. Fusion 360 or any other 3d modelling software

3. 3D printer

Design Elephant Body

01 Spheare for head-01.jpg
02 Spheare for body-01.jpg
03 filet-01.jpg
04 sketch for trunk-01.jpg
05 circle at one end of arc-01.jpg
06 Loft-01.jpg
07 apply fillet-01.jpg
08 Slice end trunk-01.jpg
09 Fiillet end point of trunk-01.jpg
10 Sketch and extrude ears-01.jpg
11 Splite and shell out both half of elephant-01.jpg

1. Create sphere for body

2. Then create a relatively small sphere for the head on top of the first sphere and combine both spheres

3. Apply filet on edge between both the spheres

4. Draw arc for trunk

5. Draw a circle at the one end of the arc

6. Select the circle and another point of the arc and perform loft

7. Apply filet on edge between head and trunk

8. Cut some part of elephant trunk near point and apply filet on it.

9. Draw ear shape and extrude both sides

10. Apply filet on ear edges

11. Make a copy of the elephant using the move command and keep it aside for some time

12. Slice the elephant in the center as shown in the figure and apply the shell to hollow out both halves.

13. Combine both halves using the combine tool

Adding Dead Weight at the Bottom of the Elephant

12 draw and exture box-01.jpg
13 Rotate box 15degree.jpg
13 Section View-01.jpg

1. Draw and extrude rectangle at bottom of the elephant and rotated 15degree as shown in figure

2. Use a combine tool to select a rectangular box as a targeted body and elephant as a tool body. Tick keep tool option and perform the cut operation

3. Hide remaining part of the box and combine elephant body and cut part of the box which is inside the elephant

Adding Grid Pattern on Elephant

14 draw and Extrude grid-01.jpg
15 Draw and extrude greed-01.jpg

1. Draw grid of circle on side view and extrude by selecting cut operation.

2. Construct plane at 45 degree on X axis and draw grid as shown in figure and extrude using cut operation.

Place Small Elephant Inside the Grid Elephant

16 Final image of fusion 360-01.jpg

1. Scale down other copy of elephant and place inside the grid elephant using move command

Slicing

17 Slice in flashprint-01.jpg

1. I oriented the elephant as shown in the figure to Minimize support required

2. Delete inside support generated by software

3. Use 100℅ infill for balance weight of elephant
