Wood Plant Pot Stakes With Cricut Iron-On

Whip up some easy wooden stakes to dress up potted plants for your favorite gardener. I selected gardening phrases for my stakes, but these would also make terrific favors for celebrations like birthdays or weddings. Just adapt the iron-on design to match your occasion.

Supplies

  • Wood circles, 3 inch in diameter and 1/8 inch wide
  • Cricut iron-on, your choice of colors
  • Craft paint (optional), your choice of colors
  • Flat wood craft sticks (like popsicle sticks)

Cut Design

Create your cut design in Design Space. I selected half a dozen gardening phrases (below) for my stakes. These designs are all free with Cricut Access. I chose designs that were squarish, or roughly the same height as width, so they would fit well on the wood round. Size each design to 2.5 inches for the largest dimension.

  • Bloom and Be Happy - #M248CEB77
  • Bloom & Grow - #M248CEB6A
  • You Grow Girl! - #M248CF2CB
  • Be Always Blooming - #M248CEB1A
  • Plants are my Friends - #M248CEFB1
  • Don't Worry Bee Happy - #M248CEC6A

Cut and Apply Iron-On Vinyl

Make the project, taking care to mirror the designs before cutting. Carefully weed the iron-on. Apply the iron-on to the center of the wood circle using your EasyPress 2 or household iron. The EasyPress made quick work of applying my designs and would be perfect if you’re making a lot of these stakes for a wedding or other celebration. Refer to Cricut’s Heat Guide for your EasyPress settings.

Assemble Stakes

If you’d like, use a bit of craft paint to color the edges and backs of your wood circles. Allow to dry. Glue a popsicle-type craft stick to the back of each wood round. Use a waterproof contact adhesive if your stakes will be exposed to moisture outdoors. Otherwise, any good white glue like tacky glue will work well.

Enjoy

And that's it! Quick and easy. Aren’t they cute?
