Make a one-of-a-kind fruit basket using dowel rods and a few inexpensive crafting tools. Let's get started!

What You Need

  • 3 packs of dowel rods (Hobby Lobby)
  • Hot glue gun
  • Glue sticks
  • Water-based craft paint
  • Small box
  • Preval Sprayer

Make a Base

To make the bottom of the fruit basket, lay a row of dowel rods vertically across the box.

Then, hot glue rods horizontally across the top of the vertical rods. Continue to do this until you have completed the base.

Form the Sides

Preval's Maker Minute: Wooden Fruit Basket

To make the sides of the basket, alternate stacking the rods vertically and horizontally along the sides of the outermost rods. (Watch the video to see how it's done!)

Prepare the Preval Sprayer

To use the Preval Sprayer, add 1 oz. of water-based craft paint and 1.5 oz. of water to the jar. Cap, shake and attach the spray can.

Now you're ready to spray the box from top to bottom and from all angles.

When it’s dry, display your fruit basket with some healthy munchies the whole family can enjoy.
