Wooden Table Project
Supplies
Make a Sketch
I started by making a rough sketch of what I wanted my table to look like. I did a front, top, and side view.
Create Dimensions
I first measured out a spot that I wanted the table to go. After I measured it I made the dimensions for the table roughly the same. I adjusted to make it as easy as possible for when the wood had to be bought and cut.
Research Supplies
After I had a plan for the table itself I needed to figure out what type of wood I would use. Before I went into the store, I went on the Home Depot website to see what was available. I picked out a few that were available and wrote down the prices. I also needed wood glue as well as nails.
Size/Quantity of Boards
After I figured out the dimensions of the table, I had to figure out how many boards I would need and what size they would have to be. I also made a setlist of supplies that I would need to build with.
Going to Get Supplies
After I created a list, I went to Home Depot to get the supplies. While I was there I was able to see in person all of the different types of wood they had. I ended up going with a common board. It was both cheap and it looked nice as well. While we were there we also had them cut the wood into the dimensions that we needed. We made each board length 24 inches long. After getting supplies, we were ready to build.
Building(Table Top)
The first part of the table that I built was the top. I started by creating a square with the boards. That square would be the base for the tabletop itself.
Table Top Part Two
After creating the base for the top part of the table, I was able to lay the wood boards in a row on top of the base. I used a Braid Nail Gun with 1 3/4in. nails to secure it. I now had a tabletop.
Legs
Now that I had the tabletop complete, I could now move onto the legs. For the legs, I just used two boards for each. You would put them together like an "L" against the inner boards then glue and nail them together.
Bottom Brace
Now that the legs were complete, I could now do the lower brace to solidify the table. I did the same exact thing that I did in step six. I just created an identical square and slid it down towards the bottom so the table was completely stable. After nailing it altogether, the basis of the table was complete.
