Word Keychain

For this project, I have made a name keychain. This instructable will teach you how to make your own name keychain on TinkerCAD! Of course, you don't have to use your name and can use any word you want.

Find the "Numbers and Letters" Tab

First, get the letters of the word that you want to spell out in the keychain.

Click "Basic Shapes" on the right to open up the "Shapes Library", and select "Design Starters."

Afterwards, select the "Numbers and Letters" tab If you don't see the letters that you want, make sure to click "More Shapes" at the bottom.

Get the Parts

Drag the letters you want to use from the right panel.

Go back to "Basic Shapes" and get a box shape, or any other shape you want to use, to house the letters. Make it any colour you want.

Align the Letters

Use the Align tool to get the letters to line up.

To do this, select all of the letters.

Then, select the Align tool at the top right.

Click the black dot that makes the letters line up by the bottom of each letter.

Group the Letters Together

Rotate your view of the workspace to get a bird's eye view if you haven't already.

Select the second letter, and use the arrow keys to group it next to the first letter as you want it to be.

Repeat this process for each next letter.

If you want to fine tune the position of each letter, make sure you change the grid snap to 0.25, and then adjust their positions.

Make a Case

Get the box shape that you brought in, bring the shape over the letters.

Make sure to resize the height of the case so that its height is less than the height of the letters.

Group the letters together, and then use the align tool to align the letters properly in the case.

You may also want to resize the height of the letters in case they jut out too much.

Design the Keyhole

Now, you need to add the keyhole.

Place a workplace onto the side of the keychain case. Get the "Round Roof" shape and put it on the case, using the workplace to help align them. Make sure to place the workplace back into its original position.

Resize the sides of the round roof so that it becomes the same length as the rest of the case. Make sure that the keyhole shape is large enough for a 3mm x 3mm hole.

Now, get a 3mm x 3mm cylinder and turn it into a hole. Place it in the keyhole shape, and use the align tool to align it in the middle of the keyhole shape. Make sure the cylinder is large enough to make a hole through the entire shape.

Final Touches and Export

Now, group everything all together, and export the project as a .obj file.

Congratulations! You've made your own word keychain!
