Working Miniature Shave Ice Machine From a Mop Head, Electrical Wire, Cardstock, Individual Eye Droppers, Paint and Glue, Etc.
We took a mop head from an old mop and cut out the front and back to make the shell for the machine. A multi use eye dropper top was cleaned & cut to hold the ice block. Wires were stripped, shaped & painted silver with a wooden bead attached to make a handle. Fake snow is in the bottom in an handmade clay bowl. Scrap paper used for the snow cone wrapper & base of machine. Mat board scraps used for the tray& cabinet. Individual eye droppers were cleaned, trimmed & painted (inside only) with acrylic paint to resemble the flavorings for shave ice. (For safety, no blades are in this machine, but it gives the illusion of making shave ice).
A used mop head was cut with a file
Wires were cut, stripped with a stripper, formed into the shape of the crank and painted silver. A small round disc with a hole was created for the crank to move through. A wooden bead was added to the end of the crank to make a handle.
This is the shell of the machine. A white disc was created from a multi use eye dropper that was cleaned and trimmed to be a housing for the ice block and support the sides of the machine. We added a bottom (cardstock) and a handmade polymer clay bowl filled with fake snow. The crank allows the white disc to move up and down.
To add to the project, we trimmed and cleaned individual eye droppers and painted with acrylic paint (inside only) and used the Cricut machine to make miniature labels for these and the snow cone papers made from left over printer paper. A tray and cabinet were made from mat board, painted black and then Dimensional Mod Podge to give it a sheen.
