For Halloween this year, I wanted to create a custom X-Men Storm costume, so that our daughter could be a little superhero. It was a joy to see her soar around in her costume. :)

Supplies

~ White Long Sleeve Onesie

~ White Long Pants

~ Yellow Fabric

~ Black Felt

~ Red Felt

~ Velcro

~ Sewing Machine

~ Thread

~ White Wig

~ White Shoes

Cutting the Fabric on the Suit

The first step was to cut the yellow fabric. The yellow belt was measured around the waist for her size and cut to size to wrap around the waist. The same was done for the yellow fabric running vertically on the body.

The cuff links were then measured and cut to go around each wrist.

The collar was then measured and cut to line up with the vertical yellow cloth and her neck

Sewing on the Fabric

After all the front pieces on the suit were cut, I began to sew.

Each piece of cut fabric was sewn onto the onesie in order to give a clean uniform look.

After the belt, vertical srap, and collar were sewn on, the cufflinks around the wrist were sewn on.

The Cape

The white fabric for the cape was measured to her wingspan and height in order to spread out and not drag.

The next step, was to cut out the yellow fabric and have it run along the outside edges of the cape.

Velcro Straps

Velcro was then added to the back neck of the onesie and behind the onesie's wrists.

In addition, the other side of the velcro was then sewn onto the cape to smoothly connect to the wrists and back neck collar.

X Patches

The classic X-Men patches were cut out of felt and sewn on to create the red and black colored X.

This was then sewn onto the costume for completion.

Time to Suit Up

With the final piece being sewn, it was time to put on the long white pants, and white shoes, and then put on the onesie on top.

The cape was then attached with the velcro support and with a wig she was ready to soar into the sky.

This was a lot of fun to make and I enjoyed seeing my daughter gleefully run around as a superhero. :)
