For this project, I designed a container that doubles as a shelf and box. It can be placed upright to display my yarn and knitting/crocheting materials, but could also be picked up and transported.

I sketched my idea in Fusion, then used the drawing feature to get dimensions. I also added wood colors and qualities to see what kind of wood I wanted to use.

I used this laser printer to cut out the plywood pieces of my project. To do this, I created DXF files of my fusion sketches, and opened them in Corel Draw. I then lasered out my pieces, two of each, in order to glue two 1/4 inch pieces to make a 1/2 inch piece.

I first glued my 1/4 inch plywood together to make 1/2 inch think pieces. I used locally sourced wood glue. I used a variety of clamps to hold my pressfit pieces in place while the glue hardened.

My final project will be used to house my yarn in the largest shelf, my knitting projects in the middle shelf, and my knitting needles and notions in the thin shelf.
