You Won't Believe the Story Behind This Design. First You'll Be Shocked, Then You'll Be Inspired

Behold the power of the windmill.

Construct a base using PVC pipes.

Your base has been constructed, but you need to protect it from forces that may undermine its integrity. Using duct tape, secure each joint of the base. Make sure the base is secure, and that it is balanced on each side so that when you add the top of the windmill, it won't tip over.

Choose your favorite inspiring color of spray paint, gather your base, and go somewhere that you can spray paint without worrying about collateral damage. We chose a vibrant shade of purple mountain majesty to highlight our piece. You can choose any color you so desire.

Go to your local construction material store and go inside, avoiding spending copious amounts of time perusing the garden section. Go straight to the electrical section, and seek out a spool (one that would normally be used for electrical wire). On your way out, purchase an American flag.

Take some time to celebrate your accomplishments thus far. Listen to the national anthem and proudly display your newly-acquired American flag on the drive back from the construction store.

You're not done yet, though you will get another chance to celebrate soon.

Using a power drill, take apart your spool so that it resembles a wheel that will fit easily on your PVC pipe. At this point, check to make sure the spool fits on your pipe.

Take your spool off the PVC pipe base. Gather a hot glue gun and extra glue, as well as some cups. Using the hot glue, strategically glue the cups onto the spool so that it may catch wind when finished.

Wait for the glue to dry, and, as always, use precaution around the hot glue.

Once your hot glue has dried and the cups are secure, place the spool back on the base. At this time, if you feel the spool has a tendency to move around, you may secure it with cable ties.

Now you are ready to go into the world with your windmill. Take your windmill outside, and once you find a particularly windy part of your neighborhood, test it to see it twirl.
