Altoids Ever Lasting Led Lights Diy, Jackolatern Light

I was bored, and saw that everyone was making these cool little contraptions out of Altoids tin cans, so i made my own. i havent really decided what it is.... it could be a ever lasting led lights kit or it could be a light up mirror if you put a little mirror in the lid. so here it is.....

Supplies

Here are the following supplies you will need: Altoids can, solder gun, solder, four 5mm led lights(any color), battery clamp, double sided adhesive tape, 2 AA batteries, a AA battery holder thingy, a little push switch(got mine from an old computers power button, a little circuit bored, and some type of clamp to hold something tight together, oh and some wire

Solder in the Lights

solder the 4 led lights in a parallel circuit on the circuit bored. look at the picture notes.....
IMPORTANT : make sure when you solder the led lights in you dont have them as high as i have them in the picture or the altoids can may not close.

Solder the Switch

now you will take the black cable from the battery clamp and solder it to the left pin (then prong side is nearest to you)

Solder the Switch

then solder the another (wire about 2" long) to the second prong . (This is the red wire you see below)

Soldering Swtich to Circuit Board

now your going to solder the red wire coming from the battery snap to the + side (where where the longer metal pin was on the led light) and the other wire to the - side ( the side of the led light that has the flat notch in it)

Applying Adhesive Tape

you should now cut a little piece of adhesive tape to the size of the back of the switch, and use a locking clamp to hold the adhesive tape to the switch for a little while to ensure it does not come loose. also make sure you leave the plastic on the opposite side of the adhesive so it dosnt stick to the clamp.

Applying Adhesive Tape

also add adhesive tape to the bottom of the circuit board and the battery clam. becasue you dont want the metal touching the casing or it willl short it, also it will keep everything in place in the tin can

Mounting the Switch

now your going to remove the plastic from the adhesive tape on the switch, and clamp it to the edge of the tin. you want to make sure that is is positioned so that when you close the lid it will be pusing the button down. (turning off the lights)

Final Touches

now you may do the same with the battery casing and the circuit bored, you probably dont need to use a clamp for those though. and once you plug up the battery it should all look like this.

and when you close it, it the led lights should turn off like this
