Doughnut Pops
I was feeling silly...so I made these. These are fun lil doughnut pops which can be used as a cake or a cupcake topper or just eat it like that...You wont feel guilty about eating more than one....:P
Ingredients:
1) Dark chocolate,Milk chocolate,White chocolate: 50 gm each
2) Plain Flour - About a cup, some more for dusting
3) Dry Yeast - 1/2 tea spoon
4) Vanilla bean and Extract - 1 bean and I tsp
5) Sprinkles - What ever type you want
6) Milk - 1/2 cup
7) Condense Milk - 1/2 cup
8) Lemon zest - from 2 small lemons
9) Oil for frying
Put flour , lemon zest , sugar and vanilla bean extract in the food processor with kneading attachment. You can totally do this by hand, if you do not have a processor. Add the yeast to blood temperature water (May be 2 tbsp) along with a tsp of sugar and let it froth. Do not disturb it and let it sit for 3-4 mins. Then add this mixture to the processor and whack it for 30 sec. Add the milk by the spoon till the mixture comes together and forms a dough. Do not over work it (1 to 1.5 mins max).
Let It Rise:
Cover the dough with cling film and let it sit in a warm place till it doubles up in size.
Knock the Air Out:
Knock all the air out and roll it out using your hands or a rolling pin.
Punch the Holes:
Using a 1 inch round cookie or a fondant cutter, cut out holes in the flattened dough. Then punch out holes within the circles using a 1/2 inch fondant cutter. Do not throw away the centres, they make mini mini doughnut pops :D
Let It Rise Again:
Cover the doughnuts with a damp cloth and place it in a warm corner let it rise again till it doubles in size.
Fry:
Keep the flame on low heat and fry till golden brown in colour.
Make the Dips:
put the chocolates in 3 separate bowls with 2 Tbsp milk and 2 Tbsp condense milk. Microwave for 30 sec, and more if the chocolate doesn't melt. Mix it with a spoon. and the dips are ready.
Dip and Serve
Dip the doughnuts in different sauces , half dip them full dip them...your choice . Serve them just like that or stick them on tooth pics and put them on cakes, totally your choice.
Makes more than 30 doughnuts... I lost count after a while , coz every one kept eating them....Cheers!!!
