Easy Cut Out Cookies

these cookies are perfect for cuting shapes and are easy, quick and fun to make

Ingredients

you will need:

160g of unsalted butter

140g of granulated sugar

1 large egg

180g of self raising flour

Cream the Butter

cream the butter for three minutes or until it becomes pale in colour and is light and fluffy!

Add the Sugar

add the sugar and beat until well combined!

And the Egg.......

stir in the egg until smooth and no lumps of butter are left!

Add the Flour

use your hands to bring the mixture together. It may not work at first and be hard to combine, but that's normal. keep needing the dough until soft and shiny on the outside

Refrigerate for 30 Minutes

this step is not absolutely necessary but if you have a complicated shape that you want to cut out of the dough, wrapping it in cling film and cooling it can help the dough hold its shape better when transferring to a baking tray!

Cut the Shapes

cut the shapes and move to a baking tray!

Bake!

bake for 10-12 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius and cool for 10 minutes before icing!

Decorating

use any icing on these cookies, but make sure you cool the cookies before icing, to prevent your design melting!
