Fishing Spear
This instructable tells you how to build a fishing spear for catching small fish and shrimp. Its like the:Two-Pronged Hunting Spear except it has a few modifications like there are four prongs instead of two and a stone to weigh it down in the water.
Materials
Split the Prongs
split the stick by sawing in a little bit until you have enough leverage to twist the knife slightly to separate the stick into two parts.Do another split ninety degrees to the first.Make sure you split it down to a appropriate length,it depends on the width of the smaller sticks.A rule of thumb is that you should have a good distance between the four prongs at the top.
Put the Spacers
Now take two of your small sticks and slide them down in between the prongs,be careful not to split the stick further. Then trim them down to size.
Tying It All Up
put a stone just on top of the spacers that just fits.Tie and wind the line around the spear to stop the prongs to split more, then wrap lines around the sides of spacers then across the top of the stone and tie a half hitch under the wrapped line. The remaining line could be used to attach to a float(maybe a log, plastic bottle or piece of polystyrene) ,and you could tie a length of car inner tube to turn it into a pole spear.
Sharpening
Sharpen the prongs and happy fishing.Dont forget to vote
