So the wifey wanted a bookshelf for the house an since I hav been building things around the house I opened my mouth an said I will make u that. I wanted it to be nice so I used raw cypress I got from the local saw mill......you can buy wood of your choice but if you don't mind a little work the grain an payout of raw wood sanded to fine smooth finish is awesome.

with raw wood it is rough. I used a belt sander with 40 grit paper to get the raw wood to a some what smooth and even surface......
1. I cut 2 pieces 46 in long...sides
2. I cut 2 pieces 36 in long...bottom an top
3. I cut 2 pieces 34 in long...middle

assemble is a since
1. counter sink sides
2. I measured 14 1/2 in between shelf
3. used a level and sunk the screws tight...don't over tighten an predrilled holes

now your ready to make your french cleets

cleets are easy
1. I used 8in cypress ripped down middle
2. I cut 3 pieces at 34 in
3. using a table saw I ripped those 3 pieces down the middle at a 45 degree angle.
4. screw the top parts of the cleets under each shelf counter sinking each hole.
5. find studs on wall, predrilled the holes, leveled an mount the top cleet.
6. hang bookshelf...it will hold!! and then mount the 2 remaining cleets.

finished with installation. ...

remove the bookshelf by lifting straight up.....removes very easy and i hung frm the cleets so they are very sturdy. fill your holes with wood putty...let dry. then I went from 80 grit to 120 grit . I also rounded all the corners so that nobody caught any splinters...... my wife has decided if she wants to stain or paint but I hav done my part...lol enjoy your bookshelf
