How to Build an Airsoft Game Map/zone
If you know some deserted or have your own land you may wish to spend a day tidying it up and creating your own airsoft or other millitary simulation game arena. this is an instructable with a few tips on how to get the most out of you resources and how you can minpulate them to give your team the edge if you desire.
Resources
you need to look at what you have to play with, pieces of ply, palets or metal. also you must look at the area you have, is it woodland, industrial and can you adapt what it is to a skirmish arena with minimal effort.
you must also concider what weapons and the number of people you will be housing, because theres no point housing a sniper nest if you only have a springer pistol.

Getting Started
to get started definatly get a spade/shovel as they are so useful, dirt is the cheapest and most sustainable barricade you can get so use it. for starters you'll want one or two strategically strong points for home bases to defend from.
In woodland these should be up hill, with high barracades so that you wont have to angle you body out of the line of fire. the barricades should be long complexes so you can reposition easily. it is also good to plan an escape route and maybe somewhere to house a weapon cache along route. if you have claymores or mines at your disposal use these on the build up to the base as once inside the enemy may be looking for them and wont be in the rush between cover.
in an industrial enviorment try and make the base upstairs so that it is easier to defend, you should also try and make the doors open outwards so that it is harder to breach and and windows are small and thin walled allowing a good range of fire positions but a small target. any entrances should be able to be covered and there should be minimal chances for flanking.

Bunkers Defenceive
in the picture there is a very simple mud bunker that is easy to build in 20 minutes and very effective. with these bunkers you want to dig a deep point and have a long slope into it, by doing this you allow yourself easy acces. on the other hand the mud on top protecting you provides very little cover when used in the other direction as it is very shallow making suppression easier. with wood you would make a magazine or grenade shelf inside the bunker to give ease of use.
in industrial enviorments over turned tables are best as the legs can have boards strapped to them to block the sides and this allows an easy pop in and out tatic to pick off attackers

Bunkers General
bunkers to be used each way can be very simple or complexed, if you have time you could make a big dive in trench that has tunnels to other points in the game but realistically quick little barricades are best. logs between two trees and string work just fine but if you want to get fancy then maybe build on tree brances for sniping or peep holes to shoot through.
any of these give the same advantage to either direction of play but they can also be akward to use when shooting.
