Make a Motor Very Easily

DSC01464.JPG

Today I am going to show how to make a motor very easily. For this you may not need more than ordinary things. It is easy and great for scientific classes and experiments.

Visit my profile:https://www.instructables.com/member/argha+halder/ to see some more of this type of interesting projects.

Ingredients Needed

The things you will need are given below:
1)Copper wire roll(my one looks seriously dirty!)
2)AA battery
3)Two paper clip
4)A small piece of wood for the base
5)Magnets

Tools needed:
1)Pliers
2)A scissor
3)A sand paper

Now take a roll of copper wire.Leaving some extra wire on the end start coilling the wire around the battery or any round thing.Coil the wire 20 times and leave some extra space at the end again. Now take the coil out carefully.

Make a knot around the coil with the extra wire on each side. You may even use tape to hold them together

Now with sand paper fully remove the insulation of one end of wire. Some things are hard to express through words . So better see the hand drawn picture. Now on the end remove half of insulation of the wire cilyndrically.

Now take the two paper clips and straighten them using pliers. If they have insulation on them remove them. Now bend them as shown in the picture.

Making the Base

Now take wooden base.making two holes on each side measuring the distance of the legs of the paperclips. Now put the legs of paper clips in those holes and probably glue them.

Now take the copper wire coil that we made and put it through the loops of the paper clips.now put a or probably 2 magnets under the coil. Now add a wire to each paper clip and put the wires on the battery. It will start to spin.if it does not then give it a push and it will start to spin.

oh and watch the video

How Does It Work?

When electricity is flowed in a wire then it produces magnetic field. And same poles of a magnet repel each other. So the coil starts to spin. But after one turn it would have attracted each other as the opposite poles would came in front of each other. So half insulation of one of the end is not scrapped. So that it would block the flow electricity stopping it from attracting.and finally using the momentum of the first spin it again comes contact with electrical flow and repels and the spinning continues,

What Makes It Stronger?

To make it stronger use more powerful magnets . Or take another magnet and hold it on the top of the coil.if then the coil stops spinning then reverse the pole the magnet you are holding . You may increase the number of coil to make it stronger.

Troubleshooting

If your motor does not work then check whether you have mistaken and ripped of the full insulation of both sides. Remember only one side needs to be fully made free from insulation. The other side should have half insulation. Check whether you have made the connections well or not. Oh to start it sometimes you have to give the coil a push.
I dont know any more problem or faced any more.

I am Argha Halder from bangladesh. I am a 7th grader. I am weak in English as it is not my mother tongue language. So if I make any mistake help me find it. Give some more ideas. Feel free to ask questions, I will try to answer them as much as possible for me. Bye! Have a nice day
