How to Make an Origami Cube ( Sobone Unit
I love making modular origami, and one of my all time favorites is the origami cube. This cube is made using sonobe units.
Materials
you will need 6 square sheets of origami paper. I am using 6" by 6" paper.
Getting Started
Take one sheet of paper, and place it white side up. fold it in half and unfold. then fold both sides into the center unfold and rotate paper 90 degrees ( in othe words, fold your paper into quarters)
Folding Corners
fold the top left and bottem right corners to the closest crease.
Next, fold the sides back into the center.
Next, fold the sides back into the center.
Triangles
for this step, it is probably easier to look at the pictures.
take the bottem left corner, and fold it up to the top of the paper. Then, take the top right corner and fold it to the bottem

Into Pockets
Now, we are going to tuck the triangles into the pockets
Almost There!!!
turn the object over , and fold the 2 sides in. unfold
Repeat!!
make 5 more units for a total of 6.
Assembly
each unit has 2 tips and 2 pockets. To assemble the cube, we will tuck the tips into the pockets. begin assembly by Connecting 3 units( see pics). turn over and add a fourth unit. continue tucking tips into pockets and adding units until the cube is complete! I know that it can be a little confusing at first, but use the pictures and stick with it. It is worth it!
Done
All done! The sonobe unit used to make many models besides the cube.
