Instructable of how to make a cake that resembles an iPhone
Make Cake Batter
For the cake batter you will need to make a basic chocolate sponge cake.
175g butter at room temperature
3 medium eggs
175g caster sugar
175g self raising flour
50g cocoa powder
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
Pre heat the oven to 180 degrees c
Place all ingredients in a large bowl and musk together using an electric whisk.
Grease or line two square baking tins
Place mixture in tins
Bake the chocolate sponge cake for about 30-35 mins or until a cake skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Place on cooling rack until cool.
Creating 'apps'
Decide on the apps that you would like to be on your cake
Make the apps using many different pre made royal icing colours ( this can be quite expensive but you can make the icing yourself as you only need a small amount of each colour)
Cut squares of icing for the background of apps
Use cut out shapes and icing pens to decorate apps
Ice Cake
Next you will need to make a chocolate buttercream mixture for the royal icing to stick to, for this you will need:
85g butter
175g icing sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 tablespoon milk
Whisk all ingredients together until smooth
Spread icing over chocolate cakes placed next to each other
Roll out black royal icing and smooth over buttercream covered cake.
Attach Apps to Cake
Attach the apps to the cake using a very small amount of buttercream icing, it is good to use a real iPhone as a template or print out an image of an iPhone to follow
Finish detailing with white icing pen
Add grey trimming round the edge of the cake finished with edible shimmer spray for added detail
You have a finished iPhone cake
