IPhone Stand
This project was made during the lamp design workshop directed by the Noah Norton from The University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie. The workshop was held in Fablab Moscow. The task was to make a design of a lamp, but I decided to use my iPhone as a lamp source. Cheater, yes.
I used the ideas from Noah’s inputs, which were as follow:
- Combination of materials
- Geometry
- Patterns
As a result, I have 3in1 iPhone stand, which allow using iPhone as a lamp source. You can read with it, you can use it as an atmosphere lamp, and you can use it as a standard stand. Of course, you can try to use it with another phone, although you might need to adapt width of a printed part.
3D Printing
Print this part with transparent PLA.
If you have wider phone you may need to adapt the size of this part.

Lazer Cutting
Cut these side parts from 10 mm plywood by a laser cutter.

Finishing
After some finishing I covered it with a mordant for wood eucalyptus color.
Assembling
Just assemble all the parts. I fixed them with a glue, although may be it is not necessary.
Conclusion
As far as the visual design is concerned, I am not really happy with a combination of a plywood and 3d printed parts, though the whole stand turned out to be very useful for me, and I am using it every day.
