for this inscrutable you will need:

a lock
a quiet place
something to help you listen

start by resetting the lock by turning the dial three times to the right. then turn the dial to the left very slowly so you don't miss any noises.

turn the dial very slowly until you hear a sound like a click or tick. do this until you have head a click or a tick three times then try opening. if it doesn't work keep trying.
