Reusing Materials for a Better World.

Reusing material to make an rc boat greener and cooler.
I reused an old rc boat that doesn't work because of the motor. I took a motor from an old rc car, and all the wires. I took 2 9v batteries that my mom was throwing away. And I took a led from the rc car controller. I used a drinking straw. And I used 2 red LEDs that do not work. 6AA batteries that don't work and finally I got a solar panel that recharges 9v and AA batteries.

I made this project mostly from reused material. So that I can help go green for 2009.

Take the bad motor out of the boat. then take the good motor out of the car. Put the good motor into the boat. When the car is apart take all of the wires out.

Take the drill and drill a small hole into the top part of the boat at the back, so you can use the scroll saw to cut part of it out for the battery housing.

drill 2 small holes in the front of the boat for the red and green LEDs.

drill 2 small holes inside the boat in the back, so that the wires from the led strips can come through.

Take the rc car controller and take it apart. Take out the red led, you will be using it for the front of the boat.

Put the green led into the hole and the red one. Green on the right side of the driver and red on the other side.(to make it look more like a real boat). Use hot glue to hole the LEDs in place.

Make a housing box for the batteries out of plexi-glass. Use hot glue to put together and to attach to boat.

Hot glue the led strips to the bottom of the boat. Run the wire inside of the hole you made earlier.
With the led strips on the bottom of the boat they will light up the water so you can play in the dark.

Take 2 old clocks and take the 9v battery attachment out. So you can wire them to the led strips, and run the wire to the housing box. When you have all the wire you need in the housing box use hot glue to keep it water tight.

When you are done soldering the front 2 LEDs run the wire to the batteries running the motor, sense they don't take up a lot of voltage. When you are all done soldering all of the wires use the electrical type to rap them up.

Use spray paint for the body of the boat. I used silver fading into a dark blue.
You will want to use the masking type and go over the LEDs. You will also want to cove the top of the boat and the propeller.

Now you will need to make a top for the 9v housing box to keep the water out. You will need a hinge so you can open and close it. The top will be made from plexi-glass. You will need to attach it to the hinge.

Take a drinking straw and slide the wire through and use hot glue to keep it from going anywhere.

The solar panel recharges the AA and the 9v batteries when they die. Instead of buying more batteries (better for the world).
