Super Easy Walking Sticks

The walking stick is generally thought of as a hiking aid but those of us with bad backs or knees can use them in place of canes for support while standing or help getting out of a chair. I have a number of different sticks Ive rescued from brush piles but some time ago I was shortening a salvaged curio/bookcase and realized the left over bits would make a fine walking stick. Of course that was before I found instructable and Ive been on the look out for the materials to share the making on here

The Basic Material

You can find similar pieces at thrift stores, yard sales or occasionally on the curb. This one is a little thinner than Id like but the cost was right (curb find)

Disassemble

ok, so you've found your victim, now its time to take it apart, all the ones Ive found where simple screwed together, so just unscrew all the pieces until you have a pile of parts

Now for the tricky part... decide how many pieces it will take to make the stick the lenght you desire and start screwing the pieces together.  I prefer the top to be just under my chin, Ive found thats the right height to support me when standing

The black pole in the center is my favorits, its strong yet light. The chrome skull is a recycled steering wheel knob and rotates. My other favorite includes a florida toothpick (actually a 6" scratch awl) in the top section, theres also a hole in the top that takes a solar light, which unfortunately broke = (   The rubber bottoms are originally intended to protect floors from chair and table legs, I got lucky that the sizes available worked well for me
