Talking Computer (Custom Windows Sounds)
In this instructable I will be teaching you if you do not already know, how to make a computer that will talk to you on several occasions depending on what you do on your computer throughout the day.
Step 1
Alright first you need to download mp3mymp3, but don't worry this software is free. Go to mp3mymp3.com.
Step 2
alright go to the downloading link. It should be right where I put the blue circle. After you have downloaded this software exit out of everything.
Step 3
Alright now open mp3mymp3 and basically the way this works is you press the red circle to record and the white square to stop. Okay put mp3mymp3 off to the side for now and open up control panel, you will find this in the start button. after you have gone there go to speech, it is where I have put the blue circle.
Step 4
alright now that speech is open it should look like this. Now what we will focus on now is what you want your computer to say when it is turned on. Go ahead and click on the text box and type in what you want it to say, click the preview voice button and make sure it sounds how you want it to sound. If it doesn't sound right add some letters to it to make the speech sound better. For example I have to type in Nihvahnies to make mine sound like Nivaneus.
Step 5
Now go get the mp3mymp3 and get ready to record. Press the red button to record on mp3mymp3, then quickly press the preview voice button, when the preview voice stops press the white square to stop the recording on mp3mymp3. Make sure to save this file as a WAV file.
Step 6
Alright now that you have your WAV file sound you can exit out of mp3mymp3 and speech and go back to control panel. Now click on Sound and Audio devices, it should be right next to speech. Then click on the sound tab.
Step 7
Alright now go to the scrolling window at the bottom and scroll down to the one that says start windows, then select the browse for sound button. Then find your saved WAV file and select it, then click apply and then click okay. you now have the sound of whatever you typed at the start of your own computer. For this project you can also use your own voice if you have a microphone. You can use the recording you have for anything in the scrolling window also so you can add sound to just about everything the computer does.
