This collection of living jewellery was made during the 2013 FabJam at leFabShop Paris on saturday may 4th.
The voted theme, shared with 15 other Fab spaces around the world was «Urban Farming». We all had one afternoon to prototype our ideas and this is what the designers Sanam Viseux and Samuel N. Bernier came out with.
Of course, they didn't have to time to grow real plants, but the idea is pretty sweet.
Yes, it is 3D printing. Sorry for the ones who don't have access to one. You can probably find a FabLab or TechShop close to where you live.
We used both ABS and PLA because we only had a few hours to deliver this project. I personally have no preference. The parts were printed on MakerBot replicator 1 and 2 using a 0,2mm resolution. If you have time, try ful HD at 0,1mm!
We used textile elastics to hold the necklace. They cost 50 cents the meter and work perfectly. We also found some affordable leather laces that we decided not to use because we prefered the thickness of the elastics. Your choice.
A small golden chain would look nice to.
The models were made on SolidWorks, so sorry if the files are imported upside down. This software has this weird problem. All the stl files for 3D printing are available on MakerBot Thingiverse.
